Newtown, March 2: Dozens of hawkers took to the streets on Monday evening to protest against the United States and Israel. The rally, organized by the National Hawker Federation and the Hawker Sangram Committee, began at 5:00 PM from Newtown Post Office and ended at Newtown Bus Stand.
Protestors raised slogans against “imperialist oppression” and “genocide.” Leaders including Shaktiman Ghosh, Murad Hossain, Bhabatosh Sarkar, and Bhanu Sarkar addressed the crowd, linking the struggles of local workers to global anti-imperialist movements. The protest was peaceful and dispersed without incident.
