Context & Reason for Protest:

• The demonstration was organized in remembrance of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
• It was part of the #StandAgainstInequality Campaign Joint Action Day and the #TaxTheTop movement.

Core Demands (as seen in Bengali placard & statement):

1. Impose a 2% wealth tax on the richest 1% of India’s population.
2. Impose a 36% excess profit tax on corporations.
3. Use the revenue (estimated from income tax returns of the super-rich) for welfare of the poor.
4. Stand against rising hunger and inequality.
